For better or worse, bicyclists act just like people everywhere else. Many cyclists are quite passionate about the practice and politics of bicycling. There are sharply differing opinions about the best practices regarding bikes. This section of the Bike Memphis website will address some of the difficult issues that cyclists are dealing with, especially in the Memphis area.

One good thing about being behind much of the nation in developing a more cyclist-friendly city is that we can, hopefully, learn from the mistakes that have been made by other cities. Personally I doubt that we will learn from their errors because I am rather cynical about the political process. But, until we go down the same dead-end roads that they went down, there is still hope.
